YEC 2009

I'm part of a planning team for our denomination's Youth Evangelism Conference to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, in December. Our keynoter will be Gabe Lyons, founder of the Fermi Project and co-author of the best-selling book unChristian. Teens from around the country will participate in small group Bible study, praise and worship experiences, hands-on servant evangelism ministries and a concert by Christian rock band Eleventyseven. The conference is designed to help equip youth and their adult leaders for relational faith-sharing.

Working with teens to develop this program is both encouraging and challenging to me. My own children are older than any of these youth. Their communication style and means are completely different from those of youth even ten years ago. Yet the young people on our planning team are fervent in their convictions as disciples. They are the ones who must help us know how best to reach out to their generation.
