Disciples, not just decisions

The goal of evangelism is not merely "decisions for Christ," but disciples, as the Great Commission puts it. Evangelism increasingly is seen as a process rather than a one-time presentation. Evangelism is not really a program, but is centered in the Person of Jesus Christ. It isn't a method, but the message of Christ. Though we Christians have a role to play as witnesses to this Good News of Christ, it is the Lord who is the true Evangel. In fact, it is by God's grace that any of us has been able to respond in faith to make the decision to follow Christ and thus become disciples. It is only by the power of the Holy Spirit that we have the capacity to share this Good News with anyone else.
