I'm thinking about changing the introductory line in this blog. Right now it says, "Dialog focused on sharing faith in Christ." But I'm considering changing that to "monologue." This little blog seems to be a one-way conversation, which means I'm not learning as much from others as I'd like to. I'm grateful to those who do read these remarks from time to time, and I hope they strike a cord with folks occasionally. Still, a dialog presupposes feedback, suggestions, alternative ideas, sharing from a different perpsective.
That is one of the ways I think about faith sharing itself. It's a conversation about what means the most. There are times when a one-way conversation concerning faith issues seems best, such as a church service, or other teaching environment -- although even these settings presume considerable feedback from listeners. Since our individual faith-sharing typically occurs in private or in informal small groups, it's almost always conversational. It's as much about sensitively listening to the other person as it is speaking our convictions.
If you're checking in on this E-blog from time to time, take issue with it, offer a different view, second the motion, give a critique. I'll appreciate hearing from you, and I believe our witness will be honed and expanded. Thanks!
