Church growth eyes

Often people think that church growth and evangelism are the same. Not really. Evangelism is about sharing our Christian faith with those who, as yet, have not experienced the life-transforming grace of God in Christ. Church growth relates to the quantitative and qualitative development of the church as those who are being evangelized become actively engaged in the community of faith. Church growth, as a movement in the US, saw its primary influence in the '70s and '80s. Many of the insights from that school of thought have been carried forward and adapted to contemporary church life. One of the key learnings from the work of Donald McGavran and C. Peter Wagner and others was the notion of "church growth eyes." That meant equipping church folks with the capacity to see their communities and neighborhoods from the perspective of God's harvest.

"Church growth eyes" is a characteristic of Christians who have achieved an ability to see the possibilities for growth and to apply appropriate strategies to gain maximum results for Christ and His Church

I've put it another way: The church’s ability to see possibilities for missional growth in response to Christ’s call.
