Those of us who are part of Christian churches can lean toward an "in-group, out-group" mentality. Those who are part of our faith tradition are "in", those who are not are "out." We may forget our own need for continual spiritual refreshing, our own incomplete attempts to be the people God calls us to be, our own sporadic faithfulness. Darell Guder reminds us of our need for evangelism inside the walls of our churches.
“We need to free our language and our thinking from the idea that evangelistic ministry is directed to nonbelievers. The New Testament is …addressed to believers from beginning to end, and it evangelizes at every turning. Evangelizing churches are churches that are being evangelized. For the sake of its evangelistic vocation, the continuing conversion of the church is essential.” – Darell L. Guder, The Continuing Conversion of the Church
