John 14:26 - "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things..."
When we consider sharing our faith with others, we may make the mistake of thinking it's on our own initiative that a faith-sharing encounter may happen. But really the Holy Spirit has been at work long before we came on the scene. It's helpful to remember, too, that the Spirit is teaching the disciple as well as making it possible for the uncommitted person to hear the Good News.
"God the Holy Spirit is at work in all evangelism, bringing people to faith in Jesus. When we evangelize people outside the church, it is the Holy Spirit who helps them see their need for a Savior, believe in Jesus, and grow in their relationship with God. When we evangelize each other within the church, the Holy Spirit continues this same work, helping people mature in faith." - William J. McKay, Me, An Evangelist?, Stephen Ministries Publications, 1992.
