This matter of caring for the earth's resources is woven into the biblical narrative from the earliest passages of Genesis. Humanity, from the Bible's perspective, is granted stewardship of the "garden" that is our world -- a stewardship that is less dominion in the oligarchic sense and more dominion in the sense of genuine care and responsibility.
There is to be a generosity in our giving, a simplicity in our living, an accountability in our stewarding. In this, we Christ followers are joined by many who do not share our faith. Perhaps from this common commitment, a wider scope of mutual concern can be cultivated.
