April showers

It’s raining as I write. The Bible says God makes the sun to shine on the evil and the good, and the rain to fall on both the just and the unjust. Can’t get more equitable than that!

Sometimes, of course, it doesn’t rain when it’s needed and drought results. Sometimes it rains when we don’t need it, and floods come. And sometimes the rain provides a comforting sound on the rooftop as we sleep. Other times the rain keeps us from engaging in that outdoor activity we had planned. Water, obviously, is essential to life on planet Earth. Christ reminds us, though, that when we drink water, we will thirst again. But if we drink from the well he provides, we will never thirst. That’s where the providence and grace of God are truly non-equitable – in our favor!
