Ephesians 2:19 - "So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God."
One of the problems some of us long-time church folks have in relating to those who are "spiritually missing" is that we may have forgotten that we too have been strangers to God, wanderers without a sense of purpose. Especially if we've grown up in the church, we may tend to take our faith experience for granted. But if we are honest with ourselves, even the most devout among us have had times of distance from God, and we have known fears and doubts like many others. Lent is a good time to remember to be grateful for our being part of the household of God. And it's also a time to reach out to someone who may be feeling on the outside looking in, spiritually speaking. Chances are, we can understand that person a bit better than we think.
