Faith in Action

Romans 2:13 - "For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified."

The gospel effects a transformation that is deeper than simply an exposure to the teachings of the Bible, or even the assent to a series of vital spiritual truths. Jesus observed that his true kinsfolk are those who not only hear the words of God, but do them. He himself was about doing the works of God. The capacity to influence others in the direction of the Christ-like life calls for "doing the law" of Christ ourselves, however falteringly.

A verse from Jane Parker Huber's hymn "We Are A New Creation," is worth pondering.
"We are a new creation For service here on earth.
We live our faith in action To tell our Savior's worth.
Let love and justice blending Now show for all to see
God's grace is never-ending. It reaches you and me."
