Day after day

Acts 5:42 - "Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ."

The earliest Christians celebrated their experience of the grace of God in Christ in worship services, in home gatherings, in the daily routine of market, labor and rest. For them, it was joyous good news they wished to share with everyone. Jesus Christ is risen! Through him, we are restored to right relationship with God and neighbor. The New Testament records the growth of the Christian movement despite great adversity, not as a result of special programs or techniques, but through the faithful proclamation and demonstration of the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The age in which we live presents unique challenges to us as we strive to live and declare the good news of Christ. But basically we have the same kinds of settings in which to be witnesses today: in worship services and other church activities, in our homes, in our daily work and routine, and in recreation. The affirmation of this Bible passage is that those first Christians embraced the witness for Christ full-time. What about us?
